HEALTH CENTRE CONTRACTS HELP LHL GROUP BEAT FIRST YEAR TARGETS

WINNING contracts to project manage a series of primary care centre developments including two of the largest in England has helped Doncaster based LHL Group beat its first year business targets.

The primary care contracts, for Blackpool North Shore GP consortia and Blackpool South Shore GP consortia, which have a total construction value of £15m, are among a series of new business gains which have seen building surveyors and architects, the LHL Group, increase income from the two merged businesses by more than 25 per cent.

The two Blackpool Primary Care Centre contracts, won this autumn, will be complete next year and will serve six GP practices with a total of more than 30,000 patients.

They are being project managed by LHL Group managing partner, Ken Hawley and Leeds office director, Paul Batchelor and incorporate healthcare facilities for minor injuries, minor surgery, podiatry and children's services.

The group, which has also been involved with projects including Hutton Business Park, Doncaster, a new neighbourhood police station in Barnsley as well as other primary care centre contracts in Blackpool, Long Eaton, Grimsby and Ilkeston.

Overall staff has also been increased by six, mainly at the Architectural Division in York and with new surveying posts elsewhere in the business including a new senior appointment at Hull.

Ken Hawley says: "Growth in our first year, which has largely been a settling in period, has exceeded our expectations and has come from expanding some of our core and specialist services which are competitive in the market and well received by clients.

"Our forward order work is already significant and we look forward to 2007 as a period of consolidation and further controlled growth."
